No one is safe from Chaos’ grasp, not her close friends or even her employers. ![]() With the mention of Chaos, she quickly finds herself entangled in a deadly plot that has wrapped its web across the globe. In this volume, she finds herself thrust up against the “Hand of God” on an undercover mission in Russia. She still utilizes the tools and tricks she learned as an assassin, but is now able to pick and choose the missions that she goes on. When she’s not helping the Avengers or on missions as an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Natasha is working to make up for her past as a KGB assassin. (This is currently part of a series, so stay tuned for my review of the second volume whenever I can get my hands on a copy!) In this first volume, readers are introduced to the mysterious Natasha, who is known to her friends and enemies alike as the Black Widow. My newest Black Widow source of information is Black Widow: The Finely Woven Thread by Nathan Edmonson. I’ve had to exhaust other sources to learn more about this infamous former KGB assassin and why she is on a mission to atone for her past sins. Sadly, one of the Avengers doesn’t have her own movie and it’s the one that I have the most questions about: the Black Widow. ![]() When I watch any of the Avengers movies or really any movie about a superhero, I get really excited because it gives me more of a chance to understand each of their backstories. ![]()

However, the experienced seamen among them saw that if there had been an accident, it could not have happened to the ship herself, for she had every appearance of being under perfect control. Meanwhile the vessel was approaching the harbor under topsails, jib and foresail, but so slowly and with such an air of melancholy that the onlookers, instinctively sensing misfortune, began to wonder what accident could have happened on board. The quay was soon covered with the usual crowd of curious onlookers, for the arrival of a ship is always a great event in Marseilles, especially when, like the Pharaon, it has been built, rigged and laden in the city and belongs to a local shipowner. ON FEBRUARY 24, 1815, the watchtower at Marseilles signaled the arrival of the three-master Pharaon, coming from Smyrna, Trieste and Naples. ![]() ![]() ![]() Here we meet Carlton, a Ferrari-crashing bad boy known for Prince Harry-like antics Colette, a celebrity girlfriend chased by fevered paparazzi and the man Rachel has spent her entire life waiting to meet: her father. When she began her study, Ahmed assumed that the veil's return indicated a backward step for Muslim women worldwide. Why, Ahmed asks, did this change take root so swiftly, and what does this shift mean for women, Islam, and the West? Today, however, the majority of Muslim women throughout the Islamic world again wear the veil. To them, these coverings seemed irrelevant to both modern life and Islamic piety. In Cairo in the 1940s, Leila Ahmed was raised by a generation of women who never dressed in the veils and headscarves their mothers and grandmothers had worn.
